What makes Math Kangaroo unique? This contest is best known for the high-level logical reasoning questions blended with the grade-wise concepts. The questions are not simply formula recollection but are logical combination of concepts.
Where? Math Kangaroo is an international competition that takes place in 77 countries throughout the world. In-person or online – see official website for more details.
Who participates? Over six million children from grades 1-12 participate in this contest and win exciting prizes and certificates of appreciation.
Why do it? The reason for this contest is to spread an enthusiasm about math and to recognize exceptional students for their accomplishments.

Congratulations to 98thPercentile student Tanoj Krishna Nallagatla who earned 4th Rank at National Level and 2nd Rank at State Level in the Kangaroo Math Exam 2021. We at 98thPercentile are very proud to say that Tanoj is a member of our very own math program and that he was able to use his abilities in such an impressive way.

Below are many frequently asked questions about the Math Kangaroo contest.

  • The exam is a multiple-choice test.
  • Ninety minutes is the time allotted.
  • There will be 12 levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to 12.
  • The students are required to fill in the answers on a provided OMR sheet.
  • There are 30 questions in the exam, while for Pre Ecolier-1 and Pre Ecolier-2, there would only be 24 questions.
  • Each question will have five choices.
  • For each incorrect answer, the deduction will be of 1 mark with no negative marking.
  • Children can carry their pens, pencils, and geometry pouches.
  • No calculators will be allowed in the contest.
  • Till grade 4th need to score a maximum of 96 points & 120 points for other children.
  • Student who will score maximum marks can proceed to a second-round contest.
  • The exam will take place in the students' school.
  • The teachers will supervise accordingly.
  • The invigilators will provide blank sheets for rough calculations
